Floor polishing is the process of cleaning, smoothing and removing of stains from the floor with the use of machines that rotate on the floor and clean with the help of chemicals. There are large metal, diamond or stone grinder attached to the machine that rotates on the floor and polishes the surface with the abrasive technology. Floor polishing is always initially done when a new property is constructed or an older one is sold/brought. In other cases, it is done at regular intervals to maintain the shine, cleanliness and quality of the floors. Floor polishing is used to polish parquet, stone, marble, cork, linoleum surfaces. Steps in the process of Floor Polishing

• Identifying the condition of the floor - This is the first step where the workers need to do an inspection of the floor and get well versed with the condition of the floor. One needs to identify the condition of the cracks, intensity of spots, the disintegration of the joints, presence or absence of any coating, etc.
• Grinding or preparing the surface - The second step is the grinding of the floor where the floor is leveled and made even.
• Polishing - This step is the extensive one which itself involves 3-4 stages. Depending on the condition of the floor, polishers of different rotation speed (measured in rpm) is used.
• Hardening the surface - In this step of the floor, polishing chemicals are used to intensify the concrete surface so as to prevent water penetration and staining. This process basically provides protection to the floor.
• Final polishing - Once the surface is intensified, a final polish is given to it. The rotating speed of grit is higher in this stage and is often used to remove the attached from the previous passes. After the final polishing, the floor polishing specialists can apply a thick stain guard.
