What is a Powered Roller Conveyor?
The powered roller conveyor is stable and durable and effortlessly carries materials. Each roller can be connected to a separate motor for better control and handling. The rollers make a pathway that is supported from both sides using a frame or belt. The roller is multi-directional and can be moved on different sides by altering the motor's direction.

Uses of Powered Roller Conveyor:
The main use of a powered roller conveyor is to transfer goods from one place to another. Power roller conveyors are used for industrial and commercial areas that require transferring of heavy-weight materials. These rollers are multi-directional and have different types of pathways.
The rollers are strong and durable. These are able to equalize the pressure of the goods on the rollers thus maximizing the efficiency of the machine. The speed of the rollers can be monitored for the safety of your goods. For scanning, the speed has to be less to see through the bags carefully. For regular transferring of goods, the speed can be increased. So you can adjust the speed of these conveyors according to your needs.
Thus the main purpose of power roller conveyors is to carry goods (for industrial and commercial purposes) with the help of mechanical power. It makes transporting of goods in a seamless, cost-effective, and time-saving manner.
Types of Power Roller Conveyor:
A number of power roller conveyors are used in industries and commercial spaces. Different roller conveyors are suited for different places and purposes. Thus selecting the right one is necessary and here you can find few types of roller conveyors:
- Belt-driven roller conveyor- This uses a rubber belt that is motorized and placed underneath the rollers to control the roller movement. The belt takes the shape of the roller pathway and can be straight or V-shaped. Some rollers can take up materials of larger width as the rollers are higher than the frame. The belt must not come into contact with excessive heat or moisture. This is best to carry medium to heavy loads but requires a periodic pause.
- Chain-driven roller conveyor- This powered roller conveyor uses chains instead of belts to support the rollers. The chain is attached at the sideways of the rollers. This is best suited to transport heavy loads as the chain provides strong support and uninterrupted roller movements. These are more durable than single-stranded rolling conveyors.
- Line shaft roller conveyor- This uses a line shaft and each roller is separately attached to it by belts or drive spools. The line shaft roller conveyor is only compatible with the minimum reverse application and useful for conveying light to medium weight materials only. It is effective for small industries only.
- Zero pressure roller conveyor- This is a unit that uses sensors and motors that create zero pressure zones by energizing and de-energizing the conveyor from the main system. This prevents items from accumulating at a single point by using a photocell that identifies when the material passes.
These are the four types of power roller conveyors available in the market. Decide your purpose of installing a powered roller conveyor and then the best one.
