Measure the Dimensions
The first step is to measure the length and width of the room. Most of the tiles are available with the size of 12 X 12, which means that any room with dimensions say 12X10 does not require bordering. If the dimension of the room is not in the exact foot, like 12 feet 6 inches, to understand the width of bordering you have to add 12 inches to its dimension and divide by 2 to assess the dimension of tile bordering.

Before installing the tiles, furring strips are put up. These are placed perpendicular to the joists. Each joist should be secured with nails properly. The furring strips should be placed at an interval of 6 inches.
Cut the tiles accordingly
