Gas fittings, when it comes to normal appliances like ovens and dryers are actually pretty simple. In fact, gas fittings overall, is quite a simple process, if you know what goes where. It basically revolves around screwing things together and wrenching them, but one needs to know what fittings go where because if gas fittings are not done correctly, there will always be a big risk of a terrible gas leak.
When it comes to pipeline gas fittings, you should try and go for the stainless steel glass pipelines. They are extremely flexible and suit the purpose best. These are an important tips for gas fittings and the pipelines can be found in kits in a hardware shop or at a home centre. Now, you will need to have the knowledge of fitting the gas range or connecting the gas dryer hookup. Usually, everything you need to connect and install them can be found in the kits. The ones that are not available can be bought separately.
There are three different scenarios of piping and gas fitting that we have highlighted here. Each scenario depicts a particular method. However, it can be said that there are multiple methods of approaching each scenario.

Follow These Steps – Gas Fittings Done Right
As mentioned before, there are three different scenarios of gas fittings that everyone should have knowledge of. These scenarios are as follows:
- Connection with the steel gas pipeline – If your house is old enough, then your gas fittings will need to be redone. The piping of threaded kind needs to be changed. If the appliance in question is connected to the old piping then in order to do gas fittings properly, you need to buy a gas fitting kit, replace the old piping with the new stainless-steel pipes. However, an important thing to remember is that the flame fitting cannot be connected to the steel pipe thread. The one that’s in the kit needs to be installed. Then, you also need to change the gas valves if you want to redo the entire gas fittings. But before doing that, you need to turn off the main valve, which can be found where the main gas line is entering the premises. After the gas fittings have been done, you can turn the gas line back on to check if the pilot lights are on in each of your appliances.
- Connecting to soft copper – Another method of gas fittings involves making stable connections with ‘soft’ copper. This is done by flaring the end of the ‘soft’ copper tube. The flaring needs to be done using the flaring tool. Once the flaring process is complete, you need to install and connect the copper tube to a flare fitting that has the same cone-shaped surface. In order to complete the gas fittings, you must apply gas-rated Teflon tapes to the threads before you start assembling them. The flare joints do not need extra sealants because a tight fit is enough to seal them.
- Reusing soft copper coils – For this gas fitting project, you need to have a pipe wrenches and adjustable wrenches. Also, flaring tools, pipe joint compound and fittings are must-haves if you want to save multiple trips to the hardware store. It is a very common method of pipeline gas fitting whereby each end of the copper tube is flared. A leak-proof joint is formed and that is connected with the cone-shaped fitting and the flared end of the tube. This way, you can reuse the copper coils and copper tubes if they are not damaged or kinked.
This is some information regarding gas fittings and piping that you need to know initially. To know more about it, you can get in touch with the gas fittings experts. The professionals can help you get more idea in this regard.
