Why Should You Pay Visit To An Eye Clinic?

You ‘think’ you have no problems with your eyes just because you can see clearly. This is no reason to not to see an eye doctor. There are multiple problems related to the eyes, which most people are not aware of. To ensure healthy eyes, it becomes important to include a visit to the eye clinic on a regular basis, at least once or twice a year. You need to be aware of the fact that visiting eye clinic can make a difference to the overall health of an individual.

Eye Clinic

Early Detection:

Problems related to the eyes can be detected only in an eye clinic. A general physician will have no clue about this. High blood pressure and diabetes can be detected with the dilation of the eyes, much before the other symptoms show up. There are other neurological diseases like idiopathic, neuritis, or intracranial hypertension can be detected by eye examination at the eye clinic.

A routine scheduled appointment with an eye clinic can eliminate the bigger risks with eyes. Glaucoma is one such condition, which needs to be diagnosed and treated at an early stage since there are no telltale signs with this condition, only a regular check-up can help. This glaucoma leads to permanent loss of vision, a condition dreaded by many.

Irreversible Eye Conditions:

Delaying a visit to an eye clinic can lead to major problems. There are some conditions of the eyes, which tend to get irreversible if neglected. A routine eye checkup can help identify such symptoms at an early stage.

Refractive Errors:

Refractive errors tend to happen when a specific shape of the eye prevents the light from directly focusing on the retina. This is due to the aging of the lens or even due to the shape of the cornea. Some common refractive errors are:

1. Hyperopia: This is also far sightedness. The distant objects can be clearly seen but not those near you.

2. Myopia: This is also near sightedness. The faraway objects seem to be a blur while the objects near are clear.

3. Presbyopia: This condition makes focusing difficult on objects, which are close, as the lens has lost its ability to change shape. This condition is normally due to aging.

4. Astigmatism: The inability of the eyes to focus light in an even manner on the retina and images are stretched out and blurry.

Cataract:

The eye lens clouding is a condition termed as cataract. This tends to affect the vision. This can occur in either only one eye or even both the eyes. Besides aging, this condition also occurs due to an injury or probably exposure to some sort of radiation. An eye clinic tests the eyes with the Tonometry, visual acuity test, and a retinal examination. Surgery is the only treatment for this condition.

Eye Exam

Routine Eye Exam:

Depending on the chosen eye clinic, a routine eye exam will include the following:

1. Visual Acuity test: This test involves the checking of the vision with the help of the Snellen chart.

2. Slit-Lamp Examination: This examination is for detecting any infection or disease in the eyes. The chin is placed on the chin rest and light of a lamp shines at your eyes. Each part of the eye can be examined with this test.

3. Diopter Test: Several lenses are placed in front of your eyes and ask you to read the letters on the Snellen chart.

Before opting for any eye clinic, it is important to find out the reputation and the experience of the practicing Ophthalmologist. Eyes are important to all of us. Thus, there should be no compromises made in the case of a checkup or even selecting the right eye clinic
