Roles and Responsibilities of Gas Fitter

Gas fitting is a modern world work which involves repairing the gas appliances. Not only repairing comes under gas fitting but also the process of Gas fitting includes installation of gas related appliances, altering gas related appliances if any major damages occur. The person who is employed to do the gas fitting work is called the gas fitters. Gas fitter is the person who is capable of doing all the gas related works including the installation of Gas pipes and handling the flow of the gas as well. A career in gas fitting has a better scope in gulf countries.

Qualifications to Become A Gas Fitter: 

Gas fitting is one of the reputed careers and the person who wants to become a gas fitter should have a proper knowledge about gases and should know the responsibility of the gas fitter thoroughly. There are many short-term courses are available to get a knowledge about gas fitting. One should get a proper work experience than learning the course theoretically. A person who tends to become a gas fitter should learn the nuances and the working tactics from a well-experienced gas fitter by working as an apprentice for a period of time. Before pursuing has fitting courses, a person should have some basic engineering knowledge as the gas fitting work involves welding and repairing activities. 

Basic Duties of a Gas Fitter: 

A gas fitter has some basic responsibilities and duties as listed below: 

• Gas fitters have some basic responsibilities like installing the gas related appliances, maintaining it and servicing it.

• Testing the defected equipment inside the gas appliances and should be able to replace it.

• Gas fitter will be employed to inspect the gas flow in the pipeline and if any mishap occurs the gas fitter should be able to inspect the entire system and the reason for the accident.

• Gas fitter is responsible for conducting drills at a regular interval of time. The reason is that the gas leakage is very vulnerable and very dangerous as it can lead to a massacre.

• Gas fitter should be able to formulate the entire blueprint of the gas flow.

• Gas fitter should be able to analyze the ventilation. Ventilation should be provided adequately for the proper flow of gas.

Gas fitter should be responsible for the proper functioning of pipelines and he is the person who should take charge of the content motion of gas within the pipe. 

Tools Used for Gas Fitting: There are some basic tools which are used by the gas fitters for installation as well as for repairing purposes. The tools and its functions are as follows.

Spanners: Spanners are the most commonly used tool by the gas fitters. The Spanners are used to adjust the firmness of the pipe and the joints of the pipe. The spanner set irrespective of the sizes should be in the hands of gas fitters as it plays the major role. 

Welding Machine: The welding machine is one of the important used by the gas fitters. The entire pipeline of the gas flow will be made only by metal or iron as they won’t let the gas to escape. The major difficulty of the metal pipes is to replace them. Hence the welding machines are utilized to cut the pipelines. 

Other than the above-mentioned tools some of the primary tools such as wrenches, Cutting Pliers, screwdrivers, gauges to check the gaseous content in the room space and many more tools are used by the gas fitters to perform their basic tasks as well as rhetoric complex tasks.
